Description
A Fine Sapphire, Diamond and Platinum Ring, circa 1920
Centering a cushion-shaped sapphire weighing approximately 1.95 carats, between a pair of triangular diamonds weighing approximately 0.80 carat, further accented by round and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 0.70 carat, in platinum, size 7 3/4
• Weight 6.2 grams

Condition
In good condition with signs of normal wear, and a repair to unset and reset the sapphire. The shank stamped Tiffany & Co., shows signs of sizing. The sapphire measuring 8.50 x 5.95 x 4.09 mm, of a medium tone of very strong blue colour (with a slight colour-change to a strong slightly violetish blue in incandescent light), lightly included. It is Dupuis' opinion that features found in the sapphire are consistent with features found in sapphires known to have originated in Sri Lanka. It is Dupuis' opinion that no indications of heat treatment were found.

According to family history, the ring was given to the consignor’s mother as a wedding present in 1959, by a great-aunt from a prominent family in Boston.
