Guide-to-Selling

Receive A Premium For Your Jewellery

If you’ve decided to sell and want to ensure an excellent return, bring your fine jewellery to Dupuis. We are the only international auction house dealing exclusively in antique and modern jewellery.

The Appraisal Process

The first step in selling your fine jewellery with Dupuis is meeting with one of our specialists who will evaluate your collection. The evaluation is based on the quality of gems, materials and craftsmanship, the period of manufacture and the signature.

Our specialists make frequent visits to major cities to meet with prospective vendors of fine jewellery and precious objects. Some of these cities include: Vancouver, Victoria, Montreal, New York, Los Angeles and Miami. To arrange a confidential appointment, at no charge or obligation, please call toll-free 1-800-879-8975.

You are in good hands.

If you are unable to visit us, we can arrange an evaluation at your home or office. We want to ensure you’re able to sell your fine jewellery in the safest manner possible. If that means coming to you or organizing secure transport for your valuable pieces we are happy to do so.

Your price.

Together we agree upon a minimum price for your fine jewellery. This “reserve” amount is set at a level that protects your interests while assuring the highest probability of a sale. If the bidding at the auction doesn’t reach your reserve price, your item can be re-offered in the next auction or simply returned to you after a small handling fee.

We do the marketing.

We reach local and international buyers through many channels, including our illustrated catalogue, media advertising, publicity events and website. Prior to the auction, we also hold a public exhibition well attended by prospective buyers.

When you decide to sell.

You’ll receive a legal property receipt and consignment agreement. Three weeks before the auction you’ll receive a complimentary copy of the catalogue featuring your jewellery.

At The Auction

Our auctions take place twice a year in Toronto. In order to increase the number of potential buyers, we accept telephone bids from anywhere in the world. Dupuis auctions attract international buyers from England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, the United States and many other countries.

After The Auction

A list of your individual sale prices will be sent to you. In addition, your sale prices are available for view on our website. The net proceeds are paid to you 35 days after the auction and are accompanied by a statement of our agreed upon deductions for commission and other expenses.
